If You Want to Make an Impression, Tell a Story!
Everyday we are surrounded by stories. We tell them to our friends, children, parents and sometimes to random strangers. We use stories to reach out and emotionally connect to others. Stories have the power to transform the audience as well as the narrator. In every great story there is a moment of truth — a light bulb that goes off. It is in this moment when we are most connected.

At Built By She’s first Story Slam, we were able to experience thirteen extraordinary stories. The purpose of the night was to inspire the community through the art of the spoken word. While each anecdote was unique, you could sense a common theme: growth comes from the hustle. We were encouraged to follow our passions, to be brave, to jump in even if we don’t know what we’re doing and to not let someone else determine our path. It was wonderful to have so many diverse and interesting humans under one roof and it reminds us that we all have a story to tell.
